December 2009 One of the best things I did this past year was meeting a long lost Aunt in Christchurch. As the New Year 2010 arrives and our much loved Grand children mature my hope is they will have full and satisfying lives in a world where they are safe and happy. My resolution for this new year is to promote well being; amidst smiles, happiness and many Clowns.... !
August 2009 I have been down in Christchurch from 10th till 18th August learning some of the many skills in being a "Clown Doctor". This is a fantastic service which is being introduced to Hospitals and related facilities. If you want to know more about being a "Clown Doctor" let me introduce you to the team.
March 2009 Over recent weeks I have been looking at a Humanitarian project in China and Mongolia. It seems to me there is evidence of need for projects which encourage self sufficiency and life enrichment for impoverished folk. I am presently researching Water Supply, Gardening and Literacy amongst people who are Blinded.
November 2008 Margaret and I are delighted to welcome our newest Grand child. Matthew Alexander YUNG who was born at Palmerston North on 22nd November. A little brother for Brianna.
November 2008 Having found out something of our Scotish Heritage I am now working on my Grannies Polish family. Granny Little was a first generation New Zealand citizen but I still recall the lilt in her voice

October 2008 In order to use Air Travel Points I took a trip down to Dunedin and spent a week doing further Family History research at the Hocken Library and National Archives. I found some more interesting information about our family.
June 2008 Recently I put on a costume and performed as "Aljo" the clown at work. My aim as always is to foster and promote miles of smiles "Aljo the Clown" pic
April 2008 I attended the Australian Albinism Fellowship Conference in Adelaide and presented a session on "Humour". I think it gave folk a bit bit of a laugh. On my way home to the land of Kiwis it was a real joy stopping over in Melbourne and visiting with the team at Radio Station "HCJB Global", where I featured in a programme "Music Of Australia".
March 2008 For some time I have been interested in things going on in the sky. My bad sight stops me from seeing the moon and those millions of stars which saturate the heavens. On the 6th I went with new friends to visit the local Astronomical Society With the help of a Very High Power telescope and coaching I saw a Star far away. This was another "WOW" for me. There is so much to learn and understand.
February 2008 It will be good commencing work with Presbyterian Support Central at one of their local residential care facilities. My role is as Team Leader Activities with the elderly.
October 6 2007 After about three years of planning we held a very good meeting in Palmerston North forming the Albinism Trust which is on the web with its own small site www.albinism.org.nz
August 25-27 2006 Sydney Australia was my destination to attend the first Albinism Australia Conference. The group picture shows some of the attendees at this fantastic event.

April 2006 I enjoyed a delightful tour of South West Scotland. This was a once in a life time opportunity come about because of changing work circumstances. I visited Glasgow, Islay ,Wanlockhead and Dumfries.
Learning about Scotish History from Tundara Hunters to Celtic tribes was fasinating. Whilst aincient history dates back c7000 BC, I took joy in learning about people and places I recognised. Sir William Wallace; King Robert the Bruce; Robby Burns. It was good to be there where they had been. I attended Church at St Matthews in Dumfries where the bard Robbie Burns is burried. Below are pictures of both St Matthews Church and a Celtic Cross at the foot of which I sat and thought on Good Friday 14th April 2006.

A major draw for me to Scotland was a longing to visit Wanlockhead the little Village where my ancestors lived and died. I wanted to find their grave stones and walk in the environment they would have known from about the mid 1700s. If you are interested in any aspect of my family history please email me.

Some may ask why look back into history, why not just..."live today and live it well". I believe in all things working together for good from our past and present. Our past is the foundation of life and hope for the future.
Pondering
My dream is for a Fair, Just, Humane society which is the place our forbears left behind ....
My vision is for a world in which 'plain people can know contentment and smile even when they lack material wealth, possession’s, good looks or bright prospects....
For me every day living is about celebrating the simple things and doing your best with what is at hand. My vision of a better world is one where there is more passion for encouraging those who struggle to live, learn and love.

School Milk
When I was just a small kid sipping school milk, I knew nothing of the things which were to come. Here I am sipping School milk at Milton Otago about January / February 1957 -
